Birmingham,Alabama.  Dry, comfortable weather continues through Saturday, then wet, cooler Sunday.

Jerry Tracey

We waited all week long for today, and thankfully it lived up to advance billing.  What a beautiful day it was!  I wish I could say that its the start of a new pattern that will bring us several more days like this, but I really cannot.  Now it will stay dry tonight and during the day Saturday, and Saturday will again be comfortable with highs in the low to mid 70’s.  But that will be it for the nice stuff for a little while.  There is a strong cold front in the plains right now, and it will arrive here Sunday.  I think dry weather will continue Saturday evening, but that front will bring rain and scattered thunderstorms to central Alabama starting late Saturday night and continuing till about noon Sunday with some lighter showers continuing thereafter.  We are still monitoring the chance of a severe storm with this, but right now the lack of instability would suggest it is only a remote chance.  Temperatures will be in the 50’s Sunday, then fall to the upper 30’s Sunday night and only recover to the low 50’s Monday.  Some light showers will continue into Monday, and I would not be surprised if a few wet snow flakes show up on the ridges because it will be very cold aloft.  On Tuesday, more nice spring weather will return.  And that is good, because spring officially starts Saturday.
